As anticipated and in the absence of a rival list, Gebran Bassil was automatically reappointed head of the Free Patriotic Movement.
Martine Najm Kouteily was appointed Vice President for Political Affairs, while Ghassan Khoury was made Vice President for Administrative Affairs.
The statement issued by the head of the supervisory board for the elections of the FPM presidency stated that the board convened on the single nomination and announced its victory. The new four-year mandate starts on September 15, 2023 and runs through September 15, 2027.
It must be noted that in 2019, after four years at the helm, Bassil was also automatically reappointed head of the FPM. That year, he chose May Khoreiche and Martine Najm Koutayli as his vice presidents.
