The Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros al-Rai said on Sunday that “true and effective dialogue lies in the election of a President of the Republic.”

During the Sunday Mass sermon at Dimane, the Patriarch’s summer residence, Rai sharply criticized the behavior of the political class, accusing its members of “undermining the Republic and losing public authority.”

“Fear God and the curse of history, he who has not known hunger cannot know its value,” he said.
