During the Sunday Mass Sermon, Metropolitan Archbishop of Beirut Elias Audi expressed that “the wheel of the state will turn once a president is elected and a government is formed, so that necessary reforms can be implemented.”

Furthermore, Audi lamented that politicians were turning a blind eye to the real problem: “the vacancy of the main position; that is, the absence of proper leadership.”

He compared political leaders to “the Pharisees, as they do not seek the salvation of the nation and its people.” According to him, these leaders are “stopping at empty positions and private interests instead of working for a State with a unified army, clear borders, a just judiciary, and prosperity for the common good.”

The Archbishop emphasized the necessity for politicians to be “reintroduced to core principles, such as respect for the Constitution, transparency, honesty, and accountability, which are crucial for the proper functioning of public life.”
