The General Prosecutor of Appeals in Beirut, Judge Raja Hamoush, is currently studying the case of Lebanon’s Ambassador to France, Rami Adwan, who is suspected of “raping two employees at the Lebanese Embassy in Paris and physically assaulting them.”

A judicial source clarified that Hamoush “will decide next Monday whether to summon Adwan for questioning before taking any action against him.” The source confirmed to Huna Loubnan that the file “includes a report from the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the investigation conducted by the diplomatic mission to Paris.”

The source stated, “There is an important element missing from the file, which is the statements of the two complainant women before the French police,” noting that “it is not yet determined whether the women will come to Lebanon and testify before the Lebanese judiciary. If that is not possible, the judiciary will send a request to France to question them and provide specific answers.” The source added that the file “will follow its legal course and will not stop except by a decision that either prevents prosecution against the ambassador, or refers him to trial.”
