The Army’s Commander-in-Chief General Joseph Aoun said on Tuesday that “The Army will not leave the country at the mercy of criminals, terrorists, and troublemakers.”

During a visit to the Fouad Chehab Academy for Command and General Staff, General Aoun addressed the difficult circumstances Lebanon is facing, as well as the sacrifices made by the Army, which he insisted is “the backbone of the country, and sacrifice is its motto.”

General Aoun also emphasized the need to preserve the confidence of the Lebanese people and the international community in the military institution. “History will remember that you saved Lebanon and made great achievements with the limited resources at your disposal,” he said, addressing the officers of the 37th promotion.

Furthermore, General Aoun urged the officers to stay focused on their goals and not be swayed by rumors. “A successful leader is one who creates hope, overcomes difficulties, and finds solutions. A leader’s merit is demonstrated during exceptional circumstances,” he concluded.
