Judge Mirna Kallas, prosecuting attorney at the cassation court, interrogated the former head of Renault-Nissan Carlos Ghosn as part of the investigation into “a case of passive corruption and abuse of power” opened in France against Rachida Dati, former French Minister of Justice.

Rachida Dati was indicted in July 2021 as part of this investigation, which concerns some advisory services linked to Renault-Nissan.

Houna Loubnan reported the news, stating that the questioning of the Franco-Lebanese businessman followed the international arrest warrant issued by the French authorities in 2022 against him.

At that time, Lebanon had received a red notice from Interpol in this regard.

Quoting a judicial source, Houna Loubnan added that the questioning centered on “whether Mr. Ghosn paid the sum of one million dollars to the former French Minister of Justice, Rachida Dati, when she was a member of the European Union, in exchange for services rendered to the giant Renault-Nissan, of which he was CEO.”

According to the same sources, the Lebanese-French businessman “categorically denied having paid any sum to Ms. Dati in exchange for alleged services.” The accusations against him, he said, “are not based on any evidence and are part of a continuing legal targeting of him,” stated the sources. Mr. Ghosn pointed out that the French courts had already “accused him of concluding contracts and squandering funds (when he was CEO of Renault-Nissan), without being able to provide any evidence” on the matter.
