The Italian Trade Agency Office in Beirut organized a two-day mission dedicated to strengthening the partnership between Italy and Lebanon in the energy and construction/infrastructure sectors. It also aimed to promote commercial and industrial collaboration, create joint ventures, and transfer knowledge between Italian and Lebanese companies.

Under the patronage of the Embassy of Italy, the event titled “Italy in Lebanon: Building a stronger partnership in Energy and Infrastructure” was organized in collaboration with the Italian Trade Associations (ANIE), The National Association of Building Constructors (ANCE) and Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo, the association of Italian companies operating or interested in operating in Africa, the Mediterranean and the Middle East.

Eight Italian companies and representatives from the trade associations participated, engaging with over 60 Lebanese companies at the workshop. Additionally, more than 150 productive B2B meetings were conducted.

The mission included meetings with Lebanese institutional bodies in efforts to provide insights into opportunities and challenges in the Lebanese market. Trade between Italy and Lebanon in 2022 showed a net balance in favor of Italy, and the mission aimed to further enhance economic ties between the two countries.

The net balance of trade between Italy and Lebanon is still in Italy’s advantage. In 2022, Italy ranked fourth, behind China, Turkey and Greece, and maintained its position as second European partner, with a share of almost 5%, and an import value of USD 46 million.
