On Thursday, the Internal Security Forces (ISF) invalidated a report regarding theft from airport baggage, which was released on an online media outlet. The article reported an incident in which a traveler’s baggage was searched and his belongings stolen at Rafic Hariri International Airport. A video on the matter was also posted by the victim on his Facebook account and shared repeatedly.
An investigation ensued as the alleged victim handed over his testimony to the security forces. Surveillance footage was then reviewed in his presence, but no crime was perceived in the recording. As a result, the individual in question was judicially ordered to post another video on his page to clarify the matter.
The ISF later called on the media platform in question to review the accuracy of their information before publishing any report. The security agency aims to avoid negative effects on the economic and security situation in light of the upcoming summer season.
