Lebanese caretaker Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib met with his Syrian counterpart Faisal al-Mokdad on Thursday in the context of the Arab Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Jeddah.

“I agree with my Lebanese counterpart on the necessity of the return of all Syrian refugees to their homeland,” Mokdad stated.

Bou Habib announced his willingness to visit Damascus, noting that the Syrian Foreign Minister is welcome in Beirut any time.

The Arab Summit’s presidency was passed on to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from its predecessor Algeria.

The Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmad Attaf expressed his wish that the Lebanese people exhibit further solidarity to pull the country out of its current crisis.

This summit marks the reintegration of Syria into the League, eleven and a half years after the suspension of its membership following the bloody repression of demonstrations against Bashar al-Assad.
