MP Adib Abdel-Massih said on May 12, “We seek to unify the opposition’s ranks, and the suggested names are Jihad Azour, Salah Honein and Lebanese Army’s Commander-in-Chief Gen. Joseph Aoun.”
“Jihad Azour has the best chance since the Free Patriotic Movement does not oppose him,” he said in an interview to a local TV station.
Abdel-Massih explained that the sign coming from the Saudis infers that “there is neither a veto on anyone nor support for anyone”. “The opposition must unify its ranks and rally behind a name, should they reject Frangieh.”
