The General Directorate of State Security at the Beirut Port Office announced on Monday the arrest of an employee whose salary exceeds $3,000 at the port for imposing bribes to customs users to facilitate their transactions.

After monitoring him for approximately two months and obtaining judicial approval, he was called in for questioning, and individuals in contact with him were summoned.

After being questioned and confronted with tangible evidence of his involvement in specific bribes related to his official duties, he confessed to the charges, was arrested and referred to the Financial Public Prosecutor’s Office.
