The Council of Ministers failed to convene on Thursday to discuss the issue of the governance of the Central Bank, due to a lack of quorum. Seven ministers were present, but refrained from entering the meeting room. They are currently holding an informal meeting with the caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati. The government is expected to issue a communiqué following the meeting.

Meanwhile, Mikati has called a cabinet meeting on Monday to review the draft budget.
