The European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Joseph Borell, stressed on Monday that it was imperative to prevent the war in Gaza from spreading to Lebanon and neighboring countries, as this could jeopardize the stability of the entire Middle East region and also have repercussions for Europe.
In a statement published on the official page of the European Union, the European official stressed that several contacts had been established in recent days with the various regional parties and that a solution to the situation in Gaza had to be found quickly.
“The two-state solution remains the only practical solution we know of. If we have no other solution, then we must devote all our political efforts to achieving it,” he concluded.
