Biden Visits Israel

US President Joe Biden arrived in Israel on Wednesday, October 18, to show US support for Israel’s war against Hamas. The visit, which has been planned for several days, comes after hundreds were killed when a missile struck a hospital in Gaza.

The American President Joe Biden met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv, as soon as he arrived in Israel on Wednesday morning, where he accused Hamas of bombing the Al-Ahli Baptist hospital.

Human Toll

The death toll from the bombing of the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza has risen to 471, with at least 314 injured, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

To date, 1400+ Israelis have been killed, while more than 4000 were wounded.

On the Palestinian side, over 3000 casualties were recorded, with scores of injured reaching over 12,000 people.

US Sanctions and Vetoes

The US Treasury announced sanctions on Wednesday on 10 Hamas members, operatives and financial facilitators, including a key commander, as conflict rages after the militant group’s surprise attack on Israel.

US authorities also unveiled sanctions on supporters of Iran’s missile and drone programs Wednesday, targeting actors based in Iran, Hong Kong, China and Venezuela as restrictions to constrain the country’s missile-related activities lapse.

The United States vetoed a UN Security Council resolution calling for a “humanitarian pause” in the raging Israel-Hamas conflict as the text did not respect Israel’s right to defend itself, the US ambassador said.

Humanitarian Aid

A statement released by the White House, announced the United States’ decision to provide $100 million in humanitarian assistance for the Palestinian people in the West Bank and Gaza.
