During its meeting on Monday, the Council of Ministers approved new financial aid for the public sector. This assistance will be provided in October, November, and December to “boost productivity among public sector employees” pending the approval and implementation of a new salary scale. Starting October 1st, public sector employees will receive an allowance equivalent to two monthly basic salaries, while pensioners will receive two months’ pensions. Hourly workers will be paid the equivalent of two months’ wages.

Additionally, financial aid of 10 million Lebanese pounds has been approved for September and December.

On September 30th, the Council of Ministers issued a decree granting “financial aid and a temporary allowance to all public sector employees and pensioners.”

These allowances are aimed at “restoring regularity in the public sector” and “increasing productivity pending the adoption of the new salary scale.” The ministers agreed that this aid was essential to “increase attendance at the workplace.”
