Lebanon’s water supply has been severely disrupted due to the ongoing blackout in the country since Saturday afternoon, following the shutdown of power plants due to fuel shortages.

Jean Gebran, President of the Beirut and Mount Lebanon Water Establishment (EBML), confirmed on Monday that water distribution has been affected by the power outages, particularly at the direct water transport stations.

Speaking on the Voice of All Lebanon, Gebran highlighted that Greater Beirut is the most impacted region because it is supplied with water by the Dbayeh station, directly powered by Electricité du Liban (EDL).

He also pointed out that more than 24 stations are operating on solar energy. He revealed that a new plan, prepared by EBML, will be presented to the Council of Ministers to facilitate the conversion of more stations to solar energy. He pointed out that the Dbayeh station, due to its significant size, cannot be powered by solar energy.
