Électricité du Liban (EDL) reiterated on Wednesday that customers can pay their bills in either dollars or Lebanese pounds.

The public electricity supplier reaffirmed the right of citizens to choose the method of payment that suits them, in US dollars or Lebanese pounds, according to the exchange rate currently set by the Banque du Liban (BDL), i.e. 89,500 Lebanese pounds to the dollar.

Consequently, EDL emphasized that tax collectors cannot mandate the currency of payment for citizens and invited individuals encountering such situations to report them so that they can be dealt with.
