Inflation remains high, at 177.25% year-on-year (January 2023 to January 2024) and 2.87% for January 2024 alone, according to the Central Administration of Statistics (CAS). The price of housing and utilities, which includes water, electricity, gas and other fuels, rose by 208.54%.

Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 180.96%. Similarly, transport and health prices recorded annual increases of 103.65% and 146.54%. Restaurant and hotel rates rose by 154.11% per year. Clothing and footwear prices rose by 133.79%, while prices in the communications sector jumped by 115.92%. Prices for furniture, household equipment, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, leisure, entertainment and culture rose by 122.78%, 195.37%, and 126.59% respectively.
