The League of Civil Servants announced on Wednesday that it will observe a general strike starting Monday, January 29. It is demanding a minimum wage of at least $600.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the League highlights that civil servants have been excluded from the salary raises granted to other employees. It condemns the injustice suffered in the public administration and denounces attempts to strip civil servants of their basic rights.

The League urges all civil servants to abstain from reporting to their workplaces starting Monday, January 29, to avoid being offered “unfair solutions” and to support all those negotiating on behalf of the public sector.

According to the League, these solutions should be “temporary, until salary increases are secured across all branches of the public sector and ensure that the minimum wage is at least $600.”
