The Central Administration of Statistics (ACS) reported on Monday that the consumer price index in Lebanon for December 2023 recorded an increase of 0.02% compared to November 2023. This increase remains very moderate compared to the rebounds recorded in other months of the year (33.27% in March and 5.35% in May).

On the other hand, the index rose by 192.3% year-on-year, as stated in the ACS press release.

The biggest increases were in southern Lebanon (3.52%), followed by Nabatiyeh (2.36%), Beirut (1.61%), Mount Lebanon (1.3%), the Bekaa (0.31%), and North Lebanon (0.01%).

The text notes that the inflation rate in 2023 was 221.3%, compared to 171.21% in 2022, 154.8% in 2021, 84.9% in 2020, and 2.90% in 2019.
