Lebanese artist Ralph Khoury (GingerPotter on Instagram), known primarily for his works featuring a digital identifier that makes them unique, is exhibiting for the second time in New York, as well as in Belgium and at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris.
He is known on Instagram under the name GingerPotter and is distinguished by his works featuring NFTs (“non-fungible tokens”). The artist Ralph Khoury assigns a digital object, a “non-fungible token” (non-replaceable), to each of his works, which is tracked, stored, and authenticated through a protocol to which a digital identifier is attached, making this token unique. It is thanks to these digital works that the Lebanese artist is making waves on the international scene, from Paris to New York, via Brussels.
Currently, two of his creations are being showcased in Times Square, New York, until August 7th. This prestigious exhibition is part of NFT NYC, the largest event dedicated to NFTs. The artist was selected to be present at this exhibition for the second consecutive year. Out of 3,000 applications, he ranked in the top 50, opening doors to exclusive privileges such as VIP tickets and access to the artists’ village.
His talent also earned him an invitation to participate in the launch of Alpha 60 at NFT NYC. `For this event, a new work was required to join a limited collection, as each piece is sold in ten copies. His works, as well as his creations exhibited in Times Square, will benefit from exceptional visibility beyond Lebanese borders.
“It’s a huge opportunity for me to be able to present my work outside of Lebanon and on screens as iconic as those in Times Square,” Ralph Khoury told Ici Beyrouth. “It’s a dream that came true last year and lives on. Of course, it’s a testament to the universality of my work and the interest it generates around the world, not just in Lebanon,” he adds.
This artist’s influence doesn’t stop in New York. In Belgium, his works have also been displayed on billboards throughout the country from the second week of April, thanks to the selection made by the Art Crush gallery.
In Paris, it is at the Carrousel du Louvre that his works will be presented during the NFT UK exhibition. This presence of digital art in one of the most emblematic places for art marks a significant turning point in the recognition of NFTs as a major art form.
Ralph Khoury’s journey illustrates not only the potential of NFTs to redefine the boundaries of traditional art but also how artists from the Middle East are drawing the attention of art lovers on the international scene.
