Amidst the escalating conflict between Israel and Gaza, MTV made the practical decision to cancel its Europe Music Awards. The event was scheduled to take place in Paris, at Villepinte, on November 5.

In light of the critical developments in the Middle East, the MTV Europe Music Awards organizers stated, “Given the harrowing circumstances in Israel and Gaza, the current climate is incongruous with a global festivity. With a significant number of casualties reported, it is a period of profound reflection and mourning.” For the first time in 28 years since its inception in France, the ceremony has been cancelled. Even in 2022, amidst the Covid pandemic, the event was conducted using pre-recorded segments. Renowned pop figure Madonna stated, “Conflicts cannot be settled through violence. Regrettably, this universal truth remains elusive to humanity, perpetuating a world marred by animosity.”

Valued artists such as David Guetta, Jung Kook of BTS, and Thirty Seconds to Mars were slated to grace the stage at this annual musical assembly. Paramount Global, the organizing body, articulated their decision as a preventive measure. They emphasized the need to ensure the safety and well-being of “the myriad of employees, crew members, artists, fans, and associates journeying from diverse global locations to breathe life into this illustrious event.”
