Israel intensified its military campaign against Hezbollah overnight with a series of airstrikes targeting rocket infrastructure and command centers, according to the IDF. The attacks across Lebanon marked a continued expansion of the Israeli army’s operational focus on dismantling Hezbollah’s military infrastructure.

The Israeli military said the strikes hit multiple Hezbollah rocket-launch sites and operational facilities, including positions in southern Lebanon where fighters were allegedly preparing to launch attacks toward Israeli territory.

The Qatrani area in southern Lebanon came under fire, where the Israeli army said it destroyed several launch sites used by Hezbollah operatives.

The military also said it targeted command centers belonging to Hezbollah’s Radwan force in Beirut, the group’s elite unit responsible for cross-border operations against Israel.

Civilian Areas Hit During Strikes

Lebanese media and officials reported that some of the strikes hit areas close to residential neighborhoods.

According to Lebanon’s National News Agency, an Israeli airstrike targeted an apartment inside a residential building in the Sharhabeel area northeast of Sidon, causing a fire inside the building.

An AFP correspondent at the scene reported visible destruction on the third floor of the apartment while Lebanese army units sealed off the area as emergency teams worked to extinguish the fire.

Residents of surrounding buildings, including women and children, fled into the streets carrying belongings as the damage became visible.

Casualties Reported

Lebanon’s health ministry said at least three people were killed in another overnight strike in the southern village of Qatrani, while local media reported an additional fatality in the strike near Sidon.

The latest casualties add to the growing toll of the conflict. According to Lebanon’s health ministry, Israeli strikes since the start of the war have killed at least 826 people in Lebanon.

Hezbollah Attacks Israeli Positions

Hezbollah claimed to continue launching attacks on Israeli forces along the border.

In statements issued overnight and Sunday morning, the group said they targeted Israeli troop concentrations near the border village of Mays al-Jabal with artillery fire.

The group also reported direct clashes with Israeli forces in the town of Khiam in southern Lebanon a day earlier.

Lebanese media reported Israeli artillery fire hitting the town overnight as fighting continued in the border area.

War Expands Since Early March

The current escalation began March 2, when Hezbollah launched rockets into Israel following the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei during the opening stage of the U.S.–Israeli military campaign against Iran.

Israel responded with large-scale airstrikes across Lebanon and the deployment of ground forces in parts of southern Lebanon, expanding the confrontation with the Iran-backed group.

Diplomatic Efforts Remain Uncertain

Even as fighting continues, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has proposed negotiations with Israel aimed at ending the conflict.

A Lebanese official told AFP that preparations are underway to form a delegation for potential talks, though no agenda, location, or timeline has been finalized.

Paris and Cyprus have been discussed as possible venues.

The official added that Lebanon would need an Israeli commitment to a ceasefire or truce before negotiations could begin.

France, however, denied reports suggesting it had drafted a formal diplomatic plan to end the war, although French officials have said they remain willing to facilitate negotiations if both sides agree.

Strategic Focus on Military Infrastructure

The latest wave of Israeli strikes suggests a continued effort to systematically degrade Hezbollah’s military infrastructure, particularly its rocket-launch capabilities and operational command network.

Israeli officials have repeatedly stated that dismantling Hezbollah’s ability to launch rockets toward Israel remains a central objective of the campaign.

With cross-border exchanges of fire continuing and ground clashes reported in southern Lebanon, analysts say the targeting of infrastructure indicates a shift toward a longer-term strategy aimed at weakening Hezbollah’s operational capacity rather than solely responding to individual attacks.
