Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence said Thursday that security forces carried out a preemptive operation against separatist groups, claiming the action disrupted what it described as a plot supported by the United States and Israel.
In a statement released by the ministry, Iranian authorities said the operation was conducted in coordination with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and targeted armed groups accused of planning attacks inside Iranian territory.
According to the statement, Iranian forces destroyed operational headquarters and ammunition depots belonging to what the ministry described as “separatist terrorists" and inflicted significant losses on the groups involved.
Tehran Claims Plot Linked to Regional War
The Iranian intelligence ministry said the alleged operation was designed to prevent militants from exploiting the current regional conflict to launch attacks inside Iran.
Authorities claimed that the groups had intended to infiltrate Iranian territory through the country’s western border, taking advantage of the security situation created by the ongoing confrontation between Iran, the United States, and Israel.
Iranian officials alleged that the militants were acting with support from Washington and Tel Aviv, though the ministry did not provide evidence to substantiate the claim.
Kurdish Border Regions Under Heightened Security
The statement also said Iranian security services were working in cooperation with local Kurdish communities to counter what Tehran described as foreign-backed destabilization efforts.
Western border regions of Iran, where several Kurdish opposition groups operate from bases in neighboring Iraq, have long been a focus of Iranian security operations.
The announcement comes amid growing concerns within Tehran that the current regional conflict could open new internal fronts, particularly in areas where armed opposition groups and separatist movements remain active.
