Hezbollah and Iran carry out further strikes in Israel as Israel continues to expand its operations in Lebanon.
Hezbollah struck two Israeli military vehicles in the town of Houla in southern Lebanon, saying that it hit with “appropriate weapons, achieving a direct hit.”
The organization also stated that it hit an Israeli Merkava tank, also in Houla.
Israel said that two of its soldiers were injured in these attacks.
Israel accelerated ground incursions in Lebanon on Tuesday to create a “buffer” for its northern residents, taking control of more border areas after the Lebanese army withdrew some of its personnel. UNIFIL sources told AFP that Israeli forces had entered several Lebanese towns.
"Israeli forces are present today in several villages, including Kfar Kila, Houla, Kfar Shouba, Yaroun and Khiam,” the UNIFIL source said.
Hezbollah has been targeting the Israeli advance as southern Lebanon becomes a confrontation zone between Hezbollah and Israel.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Israeli army issued an evacuation call for all residents south of the Litani River to evacuate. The announcement was issued ahead of a wave of strikes targeting Hezbollah military sites in the region.
Hezbollah also stated that it had fired drones towards an Israeli military base near Tel Aviv and towards a naval base in Haifa.
Sirens sounded in central Israel during this wave of fire. The Israeli military said that the drones originating from Lebanon “were successfully intercepted.”
At the same time as Hezbollah’s attacks, Iran sent two waves of missiles towards Israel, prompting warnings in the Jerusalem area, with air defenses “operating to intercept the threat.”
Blasts were heard in Jerusalem following the second wave of missiles, according to AFP.
