A decision issued Wednesday following coordination between Adel Nassar and Public Prosecutor Judge Jamal Hajjar warned that any Lebanese citizen found in possession of an unlicensed firearm, regardless of its type, will be immediately arrested, referred to the military court, and have the weapon confiscated.

The Public Prosecutor at the Court of Cassation instructed competent prosecutors to strictly enforce the law in this regard.

In parallel, Interior Minister Ahmad Hajjar said the Internal Security Forces (ISF) are carrying out their duties to ensure that displaced persons are not wanted by the judiciary and “do not pose any danger.”

Speaking to MTV channel, Hajjar stressed that the government’s priority is to provide services, noting that decisions are taken in the interest of Lebanon and its citizens, with the latest measure set for implementation by security agencies.

“The agencies are working on all levels, including security, protecting shelters, and facilitating traffic measures,” he said.

Lebanon has been witnessing a significant wave of displacement from southern Lebanon and the Bekaa following military escalation between Hezbollah and Israel since Sunday. The escalation began after the Iran-backed group launched missiles toward Israel following U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran and the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
