Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon resumed Wednesday morning, hitting Beirut’s southern suburbs, including Haret Hreik, Hadath, and Laylaki.
The army’s Arabic-language spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, described the targets as Hezbollah infrastructure and weapons depots. The blasts were reportedly felt across the capital.
Later on Wednesday, Israel issued an urgent warning to residents of southern Lebanon, urging them to evacuate their homes immediately and move north of the Litani River to avoid danger from IDF operations targeting Hezbollah military sites.
Local broadcaster MTV Lebanon also reported that the Palace of Justice in Baabda was evacuated after information emerged of a potential threat to a nearby building.
Israeli fighter jets struck the outskirts of Faron and Srifa in southern Lebanon, while artillery shelled the Shokan Adashit area. Airstrikes also targeted Shakra and Jmaijma, wounding several people who were transferred to hospitals in Tyre, as well as the town of al-Qusayr in the Marjayoun district.
Separately, three Palestinians were killed and four others wounded in an Israeli airstrike late Tuesday on an apartment in Saadiyat, in the Shouf district of Mount Lebanon.
The IDF said it struck 100 targets over the past 24 hours.
Israeli Defense Forces Operations
The Israeli army announced Wednesday that it had reinforced troops along the northern border with Lebanon and redeployed the 146th Division.
The commander of Israel’s Northern Command accused Hezbollah of making “a grave mistake” and falling into a strategic trap, vowing that Israel “will not stop until Hezbollah receives a heavy blow.”
Hezbollah launches more rockets toward Israel
Sirens sounded in northern Israeli towns after rockets were fired from Lebanon toward the Upper Galilee, causing material damage. The Israeli Home Front Command reported additional rocket alerts in Metulla.
Hezbollah said it targeted an Israeli military base near Tel Aviv in central Israel and a naval base in Haifa in the north with swarms of attack drones. The militant group also targeted the headquarters of the Israeli Aerospace Industries in central Israel with drone strikes.
On Wednesday, Hezbollah fired five rockets toward central Israel, all of which were intercepted, according to the IDF.
The IDF later said that 30 rockets had been launched from Lebanon since Tuesday night, most of which were intercepted, with the remainder landing in uninhabited areas.
