In a post on Truth Social, President Donald Trump spoke on the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Announcing Khamenei’s death, Trump said that his killing is “justice” for people “that have been killed or mutilated by Khamenei and his gang of bloodthirsty THUGS.”
Trump stated that U.S. attacks in Iran will continue against targets linked to the Iranian regime. He wrote that “the heavy and pinpoint bombing, however, will continue, uninterrupted throughout the week or, as long as necessary to achieve our objective of PEACE THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE EAST AND, INDEED, THE WORLD!”
In the height of the Iranian protest movement in early January, Trump encouraged the demonstrators to topple the Iranian regime, and that “help is on its way,” starting the cycles of escalation that led to Saturday’s joint U.S.-Israeli strikes. Trump’s statements on Iran since January through Saturday’s strikes suggest the goal of further targeting of the Iranian regime.
