Iran’s deputy foreign minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi stated on Tuesday that Iran seeks to take steps for reaching an agreement with the United States on the nuclear issue.

U.S. and Iranian officials are slated to meet for another round of talks in Geneva on Thursday mediated by Oman. However, both countries continue to shore up their military assets.

Takht-Ravanchi stated that any attack on Iran would be a “real gamble,” while the IRGC conducted military exercises off Iran’s southern coast earlier on Tuesday.

U.S. officials continue to deliberate their position on diplomacy with or escalation against Iran. On Tuesday afternoon, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is set to brief members of the U.S. congress on Iran as the Trump administration keeps military action on the table.

Trump has expressed that “really bad things” could happen to Iran if it is unable to come to an agreement with the U.S. and that he is “considering” the possibility of limited U.S. strikes in Iran.

Iran has warned that it would respond “forcefully” to any U.S. attacks, and threatens regional war as a consequence.

U.S. and Iranian officials have stated that the two parties will review a plan that Iran agreed to prepare ahead of the Geneva dialogue. At the same time, President Donald Trump stated a 10-15 day deadline for Iran last Thursday.
