THIS IS BEIRUT AND MIND ISRAEL CO-HOST PANEL DISCUSSION AT THE MUNICH SECURITY CONFERENCE ABOUT LEBANON-ISRAEL PEACE
The panel, which will be livestreamed, will discuss the setbacks and progress made as Lebanon and Israel engage in dialogue, and will look ahead to the road toward peace
(MUNICH): On Saturday, February 14 at 12:30 PM (Eastern Standard Time), This Is Beirut will co-host an important panel discussion titled "From Setbacks to Solutions: The Journey Toward Israel-Lebanon Peace and Regional Integration," which will take place at the Munich Security Conference at the Bayerischer Hof hotel in Munich. The event will be co-hosted with Israeli non-profit and strategic consultancy MIND Israel.
The panel will review the post-Gaza war regional integration perspectives with a spotlight on Lebanon and Israel: the progress and setbacks in Lebanon since the November 2024 ceasefire, particularly concerning Hezbollah's disarmament and ongoing talks with Israel. Panelists will explore the necessary steps to support the road to peace between Lebanon and Israel, and the related challenges and opportunities.
Panelists include:
- Major General (Ret.) Amos Yadlin, former head of Israeli Military Intelligence, former Deputy Commander of the Israeli Air Force, former Israeli Defense Attaché in Washington, and President and Founder of MIND Israel
- Hanin Ghaddar, Friedmann Senior Fellow with The Washington Institute for Near East Policy’s Linda and Tony Rubin Program on Arab Politics, Advisor to This Is Beirut
- Ted Deutch, former U.S. Representative from Florida and current CEO of American Jewish Committee
- Hagar Chemali, Former Director for Syria and Lebanon at the National Security Council, Nonresident Senior Fellow with the Atlantic Council, Adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs
- Melody Sucharewicz (moderator), Strategic Communications and Counter-Extremism expert as well as former Foreign Affairs Adviser for former Israeli alternate Prime Minister, Defense Minister and IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz
