Protests continued across major Iranian cities on Tuesday, as the United States urged its citizens, including dual U.S.-Iranian nationals, to leave the country immediately, citing escalating security risks amid a widening crackdown by Iranian authorities.

In a statement, the U.S. State Department warned that American citizens in Iran face a “high risk” of interrogation, arrest, and detention, advising them to exit the country overland through neighboring Armenia or Turkey, or via Azerbaijan in urgent cases.

The warning comes as demonstrations have spread nationwide, with rights groups reporting a mounting death toll.

Hundreds reported killed as crackdown continues

The Norway-based group Iran Human Rights said at least 648 protesters have been killed since the unrest began, warning that the figure is likely to rise as security forces intensify their response.

Authorities in Tehran have yet to release official casualty figures, while restrictions on communications and media coverage have made independent verification increasingly difficult.

Australia also joined calls for evacuation, with the country’s foreign minister urging all Australian nationals currently in Iran to leave immediately due to the deteriorating security situation.

As protests persist and international pressure mounts, the situation inside Iran remains volatile, with no clear indication of de-escalation in the near term.
