Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the threat posed by Hezbollah has “completely changed” since 7 October, noting that the security situation had “significantly shifted” in recent weeks. He warned that the Lebanese group now represents a “more complex and more dangerous” challenge for Israel.
Netanyahu said Israel no longer intends to limit itself to targeted strikes in Lebanon, but is moving toward broader operations, including “waves of attacks” against multiple Hezbollah targets aimed at undermining the group’s military capabilities.
According to Israel’s Channel 14, the country could shift from limited strikes to wider military operations that may escalate into a full-scale confrontation. The channel suggested that the ultimate objective could be the disarmament of Hezbollah, amid heightened tensions along the Lebanese border.
Channel 14 also reported that any escalation could quickly spiral into a broader war, particularly given Iran’s continued support for Hezbollah. The developments come at a sensitive moment, as the region faces rising tensions following Israel’s war in Gaza.
