Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office on Tuesday hailed a US-drafted plan for Gaza after it was endorsed by the UN Security Council, saying it would lead to "peace and prosperity."
The Palestinian foreign ministry also welcomed the 13-0 vote at the United Nations in New York and called for the resolution to be swiftly implemented on the ground.
The resolution bolsters US President Donald Trump's peace plan for the Gaza Strip, which includes the deployment of an international force to the devastated Palestinian territory.
"We believe that President Trump's plan will lead to peace and prosperity because it insists upon full demilitarization, disarmament, and the deradicalization of Gaza," Netanyahu's office posted on X.
"This will lead to further integration of Israel and its neighbors as well as expansion of the Abraham Accords," the statement said, referring to agreements under which some Arab nations normalized ties with Israel during Trump's first term.
"We expect to receive all of the deceased hostages with no delay and to begin the process of... ending Hamas' rule over Gaza," it added.
The Palestinian foreign ministry said the UN vote affirmed the Palestinian people's "right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state" and the unimpeded flow of aid into Gaza.
In a statement on X, the ministry "stressed the urgent need to immediately implement this resolution on the ground" in a way that "ensures the return of normal life, protects our people in the Gaza Strip," and "prevents displacement."
The ministry also urged the "full withdrawal of the occupying forces" and for the plan to be carried out in a manner that "enables reconstruction, halts the undermining of the two-state solution, and prevents annexation."
At the start of the truce in Gaza, which came into effect on October 10, Hamas was holding 20 living hostages and 28 bodies of deceased captives.
It has since released all the living hostages and returned the remains of 25 dead hostages, in line with the ceasefire terms.
Israel has accused Hamas of dragging its feet on the return of the remains.
