Lebanese driver Roger Feghali, a true monument of Levantine motorsport, has once again made headlines. Behind the wheel of his Skoda Fabia RS, accompanied by his loyal co-driver Joseph Matar, the Lebanese champion won this weekend’s Jordan Rally, the sixth and final round of the Jordanian national championship, dominating every stage.
A total domination, worthy of the champion’s greatest days. Feghali and Matar set the tone from the very first timed stage in Wadi El-Kafrein, leaving no chance to their rivals. From mud to rocks, from wind to the torrential rain that hit the region, nothing managed to shake the Lebanese driver, who signs yet another triumph beyond his country’s borders.
A living legend of Lebanese rallying
For many, Roger Feghali is no longer just a driver: he is a legend. Eighteen-time winner of the Rally of Lebanon, absolute record holder of the Middle East, the native of Mtein has once again proven that at 51 years old, his driving remains a model of precision and controlled aggression.
In Jordan, he drove his Skoda with the fluidity of a metronome and the fury of a young wolf, winning the five stages that were run before the sixth one, in Maïn, was cancelled for safety reasons due to torrential rain.
“It was a very technical rally, very tricky, with unpredictable weather. We had to stay focused from the first to the last corner,” Feghali said at the finish line, his helmet still wet.
Regional podium
Behind the untouchable Lebanese duo, Jordan’s Shadi Shaaban and co-driver Samer Issa (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9) finished second, while third place went to Sami Flayfel and Lebanese co-driver Joseph Kmeid (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 10), giving Lebanon a second presence on the podium.
In total, fourteen crews were entered, but only twelve took the start after the withdrawal of two cars. Several competitors later retired due to mechanical issues or the difficult weather conditions.
The mark of champions
The final times are undeniable: Feghali and Matar win in 34’40’’3, ahead of Shaaban and Issa in 38’58’’1, then Flayfel and Kmeid in 39’31’’0. They are followed by Ihab Al-Sharfa and Ahmad Jankhout in a Skoda Fabia Evo in 40’35’’0, then Mohammad Al-Sharfa and Yazan Jumaa in a Mitsubishi Evo 9 in 40’47’’6.
Feghali and Matar logically take the Rally2 category, Shaaban and Issa dominate M1, while Flayfel and Kmeid secure NR4. Farah Zakaria and co-driver Khaled Zakaria also delivered a strong performance by winning the Ladies’ Trophy.
With this commanding Jordan Rally victory, Roger Feghali reminds everyone that he remains the absolute reference on the region’s stages. A clean win, a clear message: once the stopwatch starts, the Lebanese driver is still the boss.
