The Embassy of Mexico in Lebanon, in collaboration with the Cervantes Institute, proudly hosted a vibrant celebration of the “Día de Muertos” (Day of the Dead), highlighting the richness of Mexico’s cultural heritage and traditions.

The event began with opening remarks by the Ambassador of Mexico to Lebanon, Francisco Romero Bock, followed by the projection of the short film “El Pescador” (the fisherman) from Mexican Director Samantha Pineda. Subsequently, the official altar was unveiled, dedicated to the renowned Mexican-Lebanese artist Charlotte Yazbek. In his address, the ambassador highlighted the significance of the altar’s central elements and their deep meaning within Mexican tradition and culture, as well as the rituals that accompany this important celebration.

Attendees were invited to explore the symbolism of the altar and the offerings dedicated to ancestors and enjoy the traditional “Pan de Muerto,” a sweet bread that represents remembrance and unity. The celebration continued with a convivial reception featuring Mexican culinary specialties, allowing guests to experience the warmth and vibrancy of Mexico’s hospitality and spirit.

The event brought together public figures, representatives from various embassies, Lebanese media, students, and friends of Mexico, underscoring the strong bonds of friendship and cultural exchange between Mexico and Lebanon.

The Embassy of Mexico extends its sincere appreciation to the Cervantes Institute and to all who joined in this celebration, which beautifully reaffirmed the shared values of remembrance, community, and the joy of life.
