A series of Israeli airstrikes shook the Beqaa and Hermel regions on Thursday. Loud explosions were heard in the areas of Janta, Shmistar and the heights of Hermel.

The Israeli army announced that it carried out a series of airstrikes against Hezbollah positions in the Beqaa and northern Lebanon.

According to a statement from the Israeli army, the strikes, “guided by military intelligence,” targeted several sites belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization, including a training camp and a precision-missile manufacturing site in the Beqaa, as well as a military infrastructure in the Sharbine sector in northern Lebanon (Hermel).

The Israeli army claims that the bombed camp was used for the training and preparation of Hezbollah fighters to “plan and carry out terrorist attacks against Israeli troops and the state of Israel.”

According to the statement, the training included live-fire exercises and the use of various types of weapons.

The strikes also destroyed manufacturing and weapons-storage infrastructure, described by the Israeli army as a “blatant violation of agreements between Israel and Lebanon.”

“The Israeli army will continue to act to eliminate any threat against the state of Israel,” the statement concluded.

Large fires broke out following the Israeli strikes in the Beqaa.

Preliminary reports indicate two fatalities.

Near Shmistar High School, minor injuries were reported due to glass shards from the airstrikes, which also caused several students to faint.
