An Israeli strike in southern Lebanon, the latest in a wave of attacks, has heightened fears of a wider escalation in the region. The strike, which targeted a vehicle on the Jarmaq-Khardali road, comes amid growing tensions fueled by remarks from US envoy Tom Barrack, who on September 22 told Sky News Arabia that “the situation in Lebanon is very difficult,” criticizing local authorities for offering “words without concrete action.”

On Thursday morning, an Israeli drone targeted a car traveling between Jarmaq and Khardali. Two people, Ahmad Saad and Moustapha Rizk, engineers with Jihad el-Bina and residents of Kfarreman (Nabatiyeh), were killed. A third person was wounded.

According to media reports, the victims were on assignment in the area, assessing damage from previous Israeli strikes. Lebanese Red Cross teams carried out the evacuation.

The attack was followed by intensive Israeli drone activity over Arnoun, Kfar Tibnit, Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa, Horch Ali Taher, and Jarmaq, further raising tensions. Silent drones were also reported hovering at low altitude over parts of Beirut’s southern suburbs.
