Less than five days after authorizing further advance payments to hospitals and doctors, bringing total healthcare spending to LBP 4.174 trillion since the start of the year, the Director General of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), Mohammad Karaki, has approved an additional LBP 208 billion in payments for previously processed surgical procedures.
In a statement issued on Monday, Karaki reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to transparency and expedited case handling, stressing that the average settlement period will not exceed one week. He also commended NSSF staff for their continued efforts to maintain the provision of healthcare services.
Karaki called on hospitals and healthcare providers to adhere strictly to the official tariffs set by the Fund, avoid levying unjustified additional fees on patients, and ensure that their claims are submitted in full compliance with established procedures to allow for prompt settlement.
