Hezbollah continues its standoff with the Lebanese state, issuing yet another threat.

“We refuse to be disarmed, and we will wage this battle as we did in Karbala,” declared Hezbollah’s Secretary General Naim Qassem on Saturday.

Speaking during a ceremony commemorating the assassination of his predecessor, Hassan Nasrallah, on September 27, Qassem reaffirmed his refusal to submit to state institutions and urged the government to “correct its mistake.”

In a populist speech, he stressed his movement’s “great victories” since last September, claiming that despite facing a “global war,” Hezbollah endured and achieved a ceasefire after 66 days of destruction. According to him, the militia still maintains a strong presence within Lebanese society and is experiencing a “jihadist recovery” that makes it “ready for any confrontation with Israel.”

Finally, Qassem underscored the need to hold parliamentary elections on schedule and under the current electoral law, while reiterating his call for the establishment of a non-sectarian parliament and the creation of a Senate, as stipulated in the Taif Agreement.
