Army intelligence arrested three young men from Majdel Zoun in the Tyre district on Sunday after they prevented a United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) patrol from passing through the town.
Such obstructions have become increasingly common, often carried out by supporters of Hezbollah, complicating UNIFIL’s mission to monitor and maintain peace in southern Lebanon.
On July 10, 2025, in the town of Aaitit, south of Tyre, a group of residents intercepted a UNIFIL patrol, demanding it return only with a Lebanese Army escort. The situation briefly escalated before the patrol withdrew.
