According to the Syrian Interior Ministry, security forces on Monday foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics from Lebanon into the Zabadani area, close to the Syrian-Lebanese border. The ministry said that the shipment was intercepted before reaching its destination but did not disclose details about the type or amount of drugs seized.

Lebanese authorities have not yet commented on the incident.

Syrian officials have made similar announcements in the past, reporting multiple narcotics seizures along the frontier – most recently, large hauls of hashish and Captagon pills allegedly smuggled from Lebanese territory.
