Israeli Citizen Repatriated from Lebanon After Year in Detention

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Thursday the repatriation of an Israeli citizen who had been held in Lebanon for a year.

Saleh Abu Hussein returned to Israel through the Naqoura border crossing, in a transfer coordinated by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The handover followed several months of negotiations between the parties, according to Netanyahu’s press office.

Upon his return, Abu Hussein was questioned by Israeli security officials and underwent an initial medical examination. He was then transferred by the Israeli army to a hospital, where he is expected to undergo comprehensive medical tests.

Israeli authorities confirmed that the circumstances of Abu Hussein’s detention remain under investigation.
