The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced Tuesday evening that “internal security forces seized in Homs Governorate a vehicle loaded with Grad rockets, in addition to various shells and ammunition, which had been hidden in eastern rural Homs and were prepared for smuggling toward the Lebanese border.”
The Ministry explained via its Telegram channel that “after seizing a vehicle loaded with Grad rockets intended for smuggling to the Lebanese border, and following careful tracking and monitoring of cameras to determine the vehicle’s route and origin, as well as relying on information from local residents and sweeping the area, a large quantity of artillery shells, mortars and various types of ammunition were found hidden in the eastern Faraflas area, also intended for smuggling.”
The Syrian Ministry added that “investigations are underway to identify those responsible for storing these weapons and the entity behind the smuggling attempt, and legal measures will be taken against them.”
