The Ministry of Interior and Municipalities announced on Friday the arrest of two employees and three transaction brokers on charges of bribery and forgery at the Vehicle and Motor Registration Department.

The case began after the department’s administration received information that an employee, identified by his initials (A.M.), was allegedly accepting bribes in exchange for overlooking vehicle modifications during inspections.

Under surveillance and in coordination with the Information Branch of the Internal Security Forces, A.M. was caught in the act and arrested on August 5, 2025. During questioning, he confessed to the charges and to working in coordination with another employee (D.H.), as well as selling sale contracts to transaction brokers and inspecting vehicles without their presence at the department.

D.H. was subsequently arrested, along with brokers (B.D.), (M.A.) and (J.D.). Efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects under the supervision of the competent judiciary.

The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its commitment to fighting corruption and promoting transparency and accountability in its institutions to protect citizens’ rights.
