Banque de l’Habitat has unveiled a new loan program worth LBP 2 billion, aimed specifically at financing home renovations.
Open to all Lebanese citizens nationwide, this initiative forms part of a joint effort between the bank and the Lebanese government to ease access to financing for households with low to moderate incomes.
Antoine Habib, chairman of Banque de l’Habitat’s board of directors, announced the decision on Tuesday during a meeting at the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Tripoli and North Lebanon.
Speaking at the occasion, Habib emphasized that the Banque de l’Habitat’s services are targeted exclusively at low- and middle-income households, or those with specific needs. “We do not serve affluent clients, who should instead turn to commercial banks,” he stated.
An electronic platform was set up to limit intermediaries, interference and pressure, thus ensuring strict compliance with banking confidentiality in the bank's procedures and operations.
Eligibility criteria include Lebanese nationality for over 10 years and a maximum property size of 150 square meters. The program specifically addresses the needs of modest and middle-income families. Additionally, declared income must correspond to that of the borrower’s household. If sufficient collateral is not available, a guarantor will be required.
