Fares Souhaid, president of the Constitution First Gathering, stated that disarming Hezbollah is a constitutional duty, emphasizing that it is a commitment enshrined in the Taif Agreement.

Souhaid made his remarks during a joint press conference hosted by the Saydet el-Jabal Gathering and the Constitution First Gathering at the headquarters of Lebanese Center for Research and Studies, Politica, in Achrafieh.

He welcomed a return to the spirit of the Taif Agreement, noting that “for the first time since 1969, the country is entering a serious phase of implementing the disarmament of militias, as stipulated by the agreement.”
