The Ministry of Public Works and Transport announced on Friday the commencement of rehabilitation efforts on three key border crossings with Syria that were damaged in recent Israeli airstrikes in the Akkar Governorate.
The affected crossings include al-Arida, Sabaa Qmar (Kobayat-Wadi Khaled) and al-Aboudiyeh.
According to the ministry, technical teams have started constructing temporary crossings in cooperation with relevant authorities to maintain uninterrupted movement and communication between Lebanon and Syria. The temporary crossing at al-Arida has already been completed and reopened, while repairs are underway at Sabaa Qmar. Work to establish a temporary crossing at al-Aboudiyeh is set to begin soon.
These measures serve as interim solutions pending comprehensive engineering studies, carried out with specialized consultants, aimed at reconstructing the bridges to their original standards prior to the airstrikes.
Furthermore, the ministry affirmed its full commitment to restoring these vital crossings to normal operation, ensuring the smooth flow of cross-border traffic and connectivity between the two countries.
