Israeli fighter jets launched a wave of airstrikes across southern Lebanon on Wednesday night, with casualties reported after a strike hit a parking area for vehicles and bulldozers near residential homes in the town of Deir Seryane.

Airstrikes also targeted the outskirts of Deir Seryane, Zawtar, Al-Qantara, Yohmor, and Taybeh, as well as several valleys in the region. Israeli Army Radio described the offensive as the beginning of “a wave of airstrikes in southern Lebanon.”

Israeli Channel 14 reported that the strikes were aimed at Hezbollah’s military infrastructure, while Israel Hayom said the army targeted ammunition depots as part of ongoing enforcement operations near the border.

The Israeli army later announced that the targets struck were “Hezbollah’s weapons storage facilities, a missile launcher and Hezbollah’s infrastructure which stored engineering tools that allowed for the reestablishment of terrorist infrastructure in the area».

“The Hezbollah terrorist organization continues attempting to reestablish terrorist infrastructure throughout Lebanon using the Lebanese population as human shields”, its spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, wrote on X.

The presence of weapons and the activity of Hezbollah in the area constitutes a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon. The Israeli army will continue to operate in order to protect the state of Israel », he added

Earlier on Wednesday, a child was killed and his father was seriously injured following an Israeli drone strike that targeted the courtyard of their home in the village of Touline, located in the Marjayoun district of southern Lebanon.

An Israeli drone also dropped two sound bombs over the town of Khiam, while another launched a similar device toward Yaroun, in the Bint Jbeil district.
