One person was killed and four others injured on Friday in an Israeli airstrike that hit a residential building in Nabatiyeh, southern Lebanon.
At the same time, Israeli fighter jets carried out two additional strikes in the area between Zrariyeh and Ansar, escalating attacks in southern Lebanon.
The Israeli army had announced on Friday that its fighter jets struck a Hezbollah facility near the Beaufort Ridge area of southern Lebanon, describing the site as a command center for the group’s fire and air defense operations.
According to a statement from the Israeli army, the facility was part of a significant underground infrastructure project previously rendered inoperative by Israeli strikes. However, intelligence indicated that Hezbollah had been attempting to rehabilitate the site, prompting the renewed targeting, according to the army statement.
The army noted that the site and efforts to restore it constitute a blatant violation of longstanding understandings between Israel and Lebanon.
"The Israeli army will not allow Hezbollah to re-establish operational capabilities at the site and will continue to act against any threat to the State of Israel," the statement said.
The airstrikes began on Friday around 11:00 a.m., with Israeli warplanes launching a series of intense raids over the Ali al-Tahir forests and the heights of Kfartabnit and Nabatiyah al-Fawqa. The use of concussion missiles resulted in powerful explosions that reverberated across the region. Less than ten minutes later, Israeli jets returned for a second wave of strikes on the same targets.

Earlier in the day, an Israeli drone dropped a sound bomb near two pickup trucks on Friday morning in the town of Ramya while they were loading scrap metal. No injuries were reported.
The southern border region witnessed renewed escalation overnight, marked by Israeli strikes and heavy gunfire targeting multiple areas.
Shortly after midnight, the Israeli army fired two artillery shells at the Shawate neighborhood in the town of Aita al-Shaab, located in the Bint Jbeil district. The shelling was preceded by two bombs dropped by an Israeli drone over the same area.
Simultaneously, a mortar shell struck the Hermon hill in the central sector of southern Lebanon, where Israeli forces reportedly carried out search and sweep operations.
In a separate incident, Israeli troops opened fire with automatic weapons toward the outskirts of the town of Shebaa. Local sources reported the movement of Israeli military vehicles near Birkat al-Nakkar, on the edge of Shebaa. These maneuvers were accompanied by intense gunfire and excavation activity, which triggered fires in the surrounding area.
