U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, stated on CNBC Wednesday that more countries are expected to join the Abraham Accords. He also mentioned ongoing discussions with Iran about its nuclear program.

“We anticipate major announcements on additional countries joining the Abraham Accords,” Witkoff said, though he did not specify which nations would be involved.

On Iran, Witkoff expressed optimism about a comprehensive peace deal, saying, “There’s a strong sense that Iran is ready.” He noted that current discussions with Iranian officials focus on establishing a civilian nuclear program, but stressed one crucial condition: “It cannot involve enrichment.”

"We can't have weaponization," he said. "That will destabilize the entire region. Everyone will then need a bomb and we just can't have that."

Witkoff added, “If Iran attempts nuclear enrichment again, it’s a red line.”
